Wilhelmenia Delores Murray

Wilhelmina Delores Murray was born in Greensboro North Carolina in April 23, 1942. She is the daughter of Martha and Herbert Gordon. She was baptized in 1959 at Brown New Calvary Church in Thomasville North Carolina. She is survived by her 7 children, Albert, Shariff, Michael, Ronald, Renee, Carlos, and Ronda. She has 21 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She married Albert Murray of Kingstree South Carolina in 1957. She spent most of her childhood in Thomasville North Carolina and most of her adulthood in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. She moved from Philadelphia to High Point North Carolina in 1993, which is where she resided for her remaining years. Wilhelmina worked in various industries from cleaning, hospitality/food & beverage, transportation to direct sales. She was a member of the Philadelphia Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.

Mena, as most of her friends called her, loved life, she loved to laugh and have a good time. In her younger years, she was known for enjoying a good party and throwing one as well. She loved plants and flowers, her favorite flower was pansies. Wilhelmina was beset by many medical problems in her final years and succumb to her illnesses at 1:45 PM on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at High Point Regional Hospital. Wilhelmina died at the age of 76, she was next to the oldest of 13 children and managed to outlive all of her siblings. According to her oldest daughter Renee, she did not suffer, death came quick and was something she was prepared for after years of suffering from various ailments.

Without a doubt, Wilhelmina’s greatest achievement and joy was as a single Mom, raising 7 children who are all productive members of society. Wilhelmina Delores Murray was loved by many and will be missed, but to all of those who mourn her passing, always member God loved her first and he loved her more.
